Southeastern Guide Dogs Walkathon
Thomas Bruce Studio is proud to have been chosen as the official photographers for the Southeastern Guide Dogs St. Petersburg Walkathon for the second year in a row. While last year was a disappointing rain-out, this year we had a picture-perfect, beautiful sunny morning!
Based in beautiful Vinoy Park in downtown St. Petersburg , the walkathon kicked off with a 3k walk and included music, local vendors, the Southeastern Guide Dogs Gift Shop, and family-friendly fun! Top sponsors included Publix, Subaru, and ASI Progressive, along with many others. Complimentary food was provided by Panera Bread, Dunkin Donuts, Kahwa Coffee and Chick-fil-a. At last count, over $182,000 had been raised!
Southeastern Guide Dogs was founded in 1982, and they employ the latest in canine development and behavior research to create and nurture partnerships between visually impaired individuals and extraordinary guide dogs. They serve more than 400 graduates across the U.S. and continue to place more than 100 dogs each year into careers benefiting people with visual impairments, and veterans. All of their services are free of charge and they receive no government funding. Fundraisers like their annual walkathons are vital to their continued success.
